TalaKaveri

It’s was Friday night, decided to visit Bhagmandala, Talakaveri with my family. Since Madikeri is just 120 kms, hardly 2 hrs drive in my black beauty from Mysore. Madikeri is one of my favorite place .As per schedule left Mysore at 6.00 AM, packing idly and Chutney for the breakfast. My Black beauty was filled with full tank of petrol. The way was covered with dense fog, visibility was hardly up to 10mts. driving with fog lights makes me thrill. Maintained speed at 90 kmph since road was good. At 7.30 we stopped by road side to have our breakfast. We had idly and spicy chutney and continued with our journey.

How to reach : Mysore- Madikeri- Bhagmandala-Talakaveri
Distance : 167 kms

8.15 Am we reached Madikeri, which is just 120 kms from Mysore, since we were not aware of exact route to Talakaveri, took help from the localities. Finally we traveled along Madikeri- Mangalore Highway, one of the worst highways I have ever seen. Traveled along Mangalore highway about 4 kms, took a deviation towards left side which connects the road towards Bhagmadala, Talakaveri. Road condition is much better compared to highway. At least the car moved in the pace of 50 kmph.Thank God..!!!  We passed via Bettigeri, Charambane to reach the
35 kms stretch to reach Bhagmandala.

By the time we reached Bhagmandala it was around 11 AM. Visited Bhagandeshwara temple (Lord Shiva),The temple situated near to Triveni Sangama, A sacred confluence of three rivers.
Kaveri,Kannika and the mythical river Sujyothi. It’s believed that a dip in this holy Sangama completes the hindu shraddha rites for a departed soul.

We had requested for our lunch at Bhatru home which was near to temple. Those people who do not wish to eat outside can try for this facility. Likewise we informed earlier and left for Talakaveri which is 8 kms away from Bhagmandala. The route to Talakaveri is just awesome, surrounded by thick dense trees, covering the sky from the sunlight. Cool breeze which made our journey truly memorable.

It was quite cold when we reached talakaveri, luckily we got space for parking near to the entrance, and else it would have been difficult for my mom to walk all the way. The place is quite sacred. Covered with hills regions at different layers of bramhagiri range. The picturesque location  which would be an treat for the nature lovers.

A tank or Kalyani seen on a hillside, at the place that is said to be the origin. It is also marked by a small temple, and the area is frequented by pilgrims. The Kaveri River originates as a spring feeding this Kalyani, which is considered to be a holy place to bath. I and my brother walked through that chilled water in Kalyani taking a 3 dips in the chilled weather, it was like few seconds we could not distinguish what had happen. Only if you take a dip in Kalyani, you will be allowed to offer pooja to kaveri ma.

That day I realized the real taste of  kaveri water, Sweet, Pure and crystal clear water, made me feel heaven on the earth. There is view point near by the temple which has to be covered by climbing couple of steps.

We started moving towards Bhagmandala, where we had our in the Bhatru home and reached Mysore by 8.30 pm
